چکیده

Femoro-popliteal aneurysms are rare if compared to aortic ones, but they are important because of their thromboembolic or rupture potential and their predictive value for existence of aortic and other extra-aortic aneurysms.1,2 Their site, age and gender distribution display ethnic3 and regional1 variations. In Africa, as atherosclerosis becomes an important disease, its sequelae, including aneurysms, may become increasingly evident.4 Furthermore, there has been recent concern that the number of patients at risk of femoral artery pseudoaneurysm may be increasing in parallel with the extent of intravenous Abstract

Use of the directional atherectomy for the treatment of femoro-popliteal lesions in patients with critical lower limb ischemia

Femoro-popliteal PTA for the treatment of critical limb ischemia is frequently associated with unsatisfactory procedural success rates while directional atherectomy (DCA) has improved success rate since claudicant patients undergoing percutaneous treatment of femoro-popliteal obstructive disease. The aim of this prospective study is to evaluate the safety, efficacy and procedural success of DCA...

Surgical Revascularization of Lower Limb for Chronic Occlusive Arterial Diseases-Outcome of 35 Patients REZWANUL HOQUE1, MD. ASLAM HOSSAIN1, SABRINA SHARMEEN HUSAIN1, MAHMUDUR RAHMAN KHANDOKER2, MOSTAFA NURUZZAMAN3, MD. ALAUDDIN

Background: Chronic lower limb ischemia is a dreadful disease and may present with intermittent claudication, rest pain and ischemic gangrene. Apart from life style modification and treating risk factors either angioplasty and stenting or surgical bypass are the mainstay of treatment. For infrainguinal bypasses reversed saphenous venous grafts are the conduits of choice because it is autologous...

PTFE bypass to below-knee arteries: distal vein collar or not? A prospective randomised multicentre study.

BACKGROUND Patency and limb salvage after synthetic bypass to the arteries below-knee are inferior to that which can be achieved with autologous vein. Use of a vein collar at the distal anastomosis has been suggested to improve patency and limb salvage, a problem that is analysed in this randomised clinical study. METHODS Patients with critical limb ischaemia undergoing polytetrafluoroethylen...

Long-term results after directional atherectomy of femoro-popliteal lesions.

OBJECTIVES Our objective in this research was the evaluation of the long-term results after directional atherectomy using the Silverhawk device (FoxHollow Technologies, Redwood City, California) of femoro-popliteal lesions. BACKGROUND Considering reports on stent fractures in femoro-popliteal arteries, atherectomy may be a valuable alternative to stenting. METHODS Eighty-four patients with ...

Origin of femoro-popliteal occlusions.

In 1950 Lindbom published the results of a radiological survey of atherosclerotic lesions in 356 legs of 185 cadavers and in 295 arteriograms of 205 patients with arterial insufficiency. He identified two principal sites of origin for femoro-popliteal occlusions, the main one being in the adductor region and the subsidiary in the popliteal artery above the level of the knee-joint. In this surve...
